An Eagle Has Flown: A Tribute to Mark Zook and Those Who Serve
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Our long-time KASH Eagles referee and referee scheduler, Mark Zook, passed away this week. He went into the hospital with abdominal issues, and passed away the next day. It was a shock.
I’ll remember Mark when I’m with the kids at practice. I’ll remember him when we are playing games at the historic basketball gym where we play, and he loved. I'll use his example when times are tough and I need to persevere, and during those same tough times to be thankful for the opportunity to serve all the children in our program doing something I love.
An Eagle has flown, to a place where there is no pain, where there is no sorrow. Farewell Mark, and until we meet again my friend. You were loved.

I partnered with Mark during volleyball and softball for many seasons and many games. He was a great man and he will be missed!

When it came time for Mark to be announced he immediately started dancing and had the whole crowd chanting and clapping as he danced to Taylor Swift. More became known is the dancing umpire! What a great memory. Last year I had the privilege of having Mark and Linda as my roommates. What a special couple. Linda took great care of Mark and believe me we ate well. I will always remember our time together. Mark loved what he did and loved Linda with all his heart.

Hey coach. I’m Whitney, marks granddaughter :) I played for kash volleyball and my brothers Taylor and Nicholas played basketball. I just want to say how touching this is. And how much it means to me. Hearing about him from other people is amazing. I had no idea that he did all the schedule for the referees. There was no way we could stop him from going to a game, he loved being there. Thank you for remembering him and It’s amazing to see how much he’s touched everyone. Thank you
